Acknowledgments & homage

Standing on the shoulders of others — and saying so.

A homage, in the founder's own words — and an honest record of the works and licenses Postern builds upon.

A homage, in the founder's own words

I build Postern in profound respect, admiration, and deference to the American constitutional order, and to the institutions and people that made a freer world possible.

If we live in a better world, America played an indispensable part in it. From federalism and constitutionalism; from substantive due process of law; from the guarantees of the rights to life, liberty, and property; from the freedom to enterprise, to self-determine, to contract — including the freedom of atypical and innominate contracts — and from the security of property rights, grew the very ground on which tokens, blockchains, and software evolve and make our days better. These are not abstractions to me. They are the load-bearing beams of the century we live in.

I honor the jurists who gave that order its voice — Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. and Felix Frankfurter among them — and the long tradition of ordered liberty they served.

I record my deep gratitude to Google, whose open Android foundation lets anyone build, and to Anthropic, whose tools helped bring this work into being. Postern stands on the shoulders of others, and says so plainly.

In homage to all of this, Postern is and will be American — in its allegiance to these principles, and in the home it chooses.

God bless America. Deus abençoe a América — em profundo respeito, admiração e deferência à formação e à garantia dos direitos fundamentais da sociedade do século XXI.

With respect for the works & licenses we build upon

Postern is a builder among builders. We use others' work under their terms, name them, and never pretend their work is ours:

  • Android Open Source Project (AOSP) — used under the Apache License 2.0; attribution and NOTICE preserved. Postern products that run on Android are apps on stock Android; they are never called “Android,” nor a fork of it, nor “Postern OS.”
  • Google Play & Google Mobile Services (GMS) — Google Play Services are not redistributed by Postern; where a Google-enabled persona exists it is the user's own Google account and install, honestly labeled the less-private side (it phones home to Google — that is separation, not privacy). We do not circumvent SafetyNet / Play Integrity; we disclose attestation honestly instead. The “Android” and “Google Play” names appear only in nominative use to say what our software interoperates with, never to imply endorsement.
  • Anthropic — the Claude tooling used to build much of this. Where our apps talk to Anthropic, it is with the user's own key, and that path is labeled the least-private one.
  • The open-source ecosystem — the Rust, Nix, and web crates and tools we depend on, each under its own license, listed with the products that use them.

Everything here remains UNAUDITED, reference-prototype software; the coin is worthless by design and is not a security; the Bloch-SIS-PoW base is ownerless. None of the respect recorded above is a claim of endorsement by any party named.
